Unleashed.
A gym designed to change the current way trainers workout.
Overview
In modern days, people have become more and more aware of the importance of keeping fit and healthy through regular workouts. The number of gym membership owners has been going up faster every year. However, it is still easy to see people with a gym membership but hardly step into it for various reasons.
Through a series of research and exploration, Unleashed is designed to help motivate trainers and potential trainers get on their feet and make that gym membership worth the most.

Problem
Issues of the Gym
1. Limited/pricy professional instruction
2. Large traffic can interrupts training
3. Bad air circulation & noisy environment
4. Little to no privacy for shy trainers
5. Hard to track training load and progress
6. Boring training process
Problem Statement
The traditional gym environment can be demotivating and uninspiring, leading users to feel bored and unconfident in their fitness goals. To address this issue, a gym environment that helps users focus, feel entertained, and feel proud of themselves is needed.

Research
Desk Research
In order to better understand the current market of gym service, a significant amount of desk research was conducted.
The research focused mainly on the persistence of gym users and their behavioral patterns while using the gym.
Primary Research
To have a better understanding of the users and providers of gyms, I invited 5 gym users and 2 gym managers to participate in an in-depth interview.
The gym users include people with a lot to almost no experience training in a gym. The gym managers include a former coach and current fitness studio runner, and a current personal trainer.
It was inspiring to gather opinions from different aspects of the gym service.
“The gym needs a good interior that doesn’t look
boring or chaotic.“
“I watch TV shows
on my iPad when working out“
“I feel unconfident
when trying new machines at the gym.“
“give clients discounts and rewards
according to their training progress“
“I wish the training equipment
will track and gather data from the training“
“Trainers are most encouraged by the
evidence of their hard work“
Insights
◇ Better privacy and movement flow help trainers relax and focus
◇ Lacking Experience makes it hard for beginners to build confidence
◇ Many trainers need non-workout-related outside motivations
◇ Accessible professional instruction helps trainers improve faster
◇ Keeping track of trainers’ progress shows evidence of their changes
◇ An attractive environment that surprises trainers will keep them returning

Design
User Journey Development
The goal is to help gym users gain confidence in their training process and become motivated to come back again. An ideal user journey is created with a focus on providing users with highly customized training plans, constantly updating instructions, trackable progress, and stimulations that provide pleasure.
Design Solution
Unleashed.
Unleashed. is a gym designed to give users a brand new training experience by acting as their private training instructor, performance monitor, and workout buddy.
When a customer registers their basic information, a one-time training plan is generated accordingly. The customer then starts training following the plan, and more data is captured for further analysis, generating more accurate and personalized training plans.
At the same time, their character in the workout adventure game is created, as they train hard, they start to gain points and unlock things to explore in the game world.
